Quiltlet

"Blonde in a Nutshell" quiltlet

The quilt show cometh: Saturday, August 8, 2009, 11 am to 5 pm in downtown Petaluma. Preparations are feverishly underway, and a preview is available at the Petaluma public library where we have hung our annual display of lovely creations by various local artists. More about that later this week, complete with photos and stories.

But first, I digress to the original subject of this blog: Boating. My boating days recently improved with the purchase of an electric motor for my Nutshell Pram. A while back I made a complete fool of myself in the marina when I tried to sail the boat, but spun in circles. Next I tried rowing, and nearly capsized. I ended up on the rocks and had to enlist the help of a resident derelict to rescue me from the rocks and send me back to a cave where I belong.

Later it occurred to me that what I needed was a motor. My husband countered that practice was what I needed, but I scoffed at that. I’ve spent 30 years trying to learn to sail and haven’t succeeded yet. Popular in marinas, the electric motors are absolutely quiet, and they scoot. Yesterday I motored round trip from the marina to the turning basin and had a blast. My boat is now fun, fun, fun!
