Petaluma is a city of readers.  I know that because often when I want to check out a particular book from the library, the Petaluma copy is already out. Library patrons take heart, though.  To comfort you while you wait for your books to come in, admire the wonderful display of handmade quilts hanging in the library until Labor Day.  All quilts were made by local artists, and represent participation in the Petaluma Quilt Show.  That annual event takes place this year on Saturday, August 8, in downtown Petaluma from 11 am to 5 pm.  Visit the quilt show website:  www.PetalumaQuiltShow.com

Visit the library to admire the quilts.  You don’t have to check out a book, but you might get lucky and find a good one. Last week I stumbled upon one called The girl who stopped swimming by Joshilyn Jackson, who I had never heard of but according to the book jacket is a bestselling author.  Anyway, the book is about a woman who sees ghosts (“I see dead people”) AND she just happens to create art quilts; nationally acclaimed, of course.

Meanwhile, take the virtual tour of the library quilt exhibit right here on my blog.
