A quilter after my own heart, Cathy Busick specializes in scrap quilts. Rather than selecting color-coordinated fabrics from a quilt shop, Cathy uses a wide variety of scraps to construct her creations. From her circle of quilting friends, Cathy collects pieces, patches, and strips of cloth that might otherwise end up in the trash. Her quilts have a quaint, old-fashioned style with an appeal that is hard to resist. To top it off, she is prolific.
Two of Cathy’s quilts, pictured here, are on display at the library. Two others will be on view at the Petaluma Historical Museum on the day of the quilt show, August 8. Yet another one, the “Cheerful” Rail Fence pictured here, will be on display at the Petaluma Arts Center, where visitors can buy raffle tickets to win this bright, colorful quilt.
