If you missed the Petaluma Quilt Show on Saturday, August 8, here are a few pictures from the event. Visitors enjoyed seeing the quilts inside the churches and hearing stories about the churches’ colorful pasts. The Petaluma Historical Museum and the Petaluma Woman’s Club both looked wonderful adorned with quilts, as did the Petaluma Art Center.

We also hung quilts outdoors on Fourth Street between B and D Streets. When the wind came up in the afternoon, some of the quilts nearly took flight, but thanks to my trusty volunteers, we managed to restrain them all.

Visitors to the museum in the afternoon were lucky to hear acoustic guitarist Mark Benanti play South American music in the garden court. Mark, who is from Petaluma, has recorded a CD called “South American Music,” which I highly recommend!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the quilt show, to those who entered quilts in the quilt show, and to those who attended the quilt show. It was a fun and lively community event, a splendid way to spend a summer afternoon.
